The I Ching may be your path.
We offer you an I Ching divination reading, guided by Milan Kozánek.
The I Ching — Book of Changes — is the oldest classical Chinese text still preserved today. More than 3,000 years old, it has been a source of wisdom and insight for China’s greatest thinkers. It is a fundamental philosophical and cosmological system that, through careful study, helps one understand the processes of one’s own development and that of everything around them. Looking at life through the lens of the I Ching brings inner peace, self-connection, and deeper understanding of the situations we face.
The I Ching consists of images (hexagrams) formed by combinations of six lines symbolizing Yin and Yang — a Yin line being broken, a Yang line being solid. This results in 64 possible combinations, each representing a distinct archetypal situation in life.
One of the practical uses of the I Ching is for divination or consultation. When someone is in an important life situation and unsure which way to go, they may need to see things from a higher perspective. Here, the I Ching’s millennia-tested wisdom can help. It works with symbols and symbolic thinking, so the person asking actively participates in the process — it is not about passively receiving an answer. This gives the experience a personal quality and helps the questioner grasp many hidden connections.
An essential part of the process is formulating the right question. Defining it clearly helps the questioner understand where they truly are and what they want to find out. The I Ching is never consulted out of boredom or superficial curiosity — readings are meant for those who genuinely wish to learn essential truths and understand the interconnections of the moment.
Milan (born 1970) has devoted most of his life to exploring how ancient Chinese thought can be applied to everyday living. For many years, he has studied the Tao Te Ching, the Analects of Confucius, and especially the I Ching. His understanding of Eastern philosophy is also deepened through the study of Japanese and Chinese calligraphy. A significant step on his journey was meeting Sam F. S. Chin, grandmaster and lineage holder of the martial art known as I Liq Chuan, or “Martial Art of Awareness.”
He transforms his deep Taoist and I Ching knowledge into work with the body and into the arts — his field of study. A professional dance teacher and choreographer, in recent years he has collaborated as a dramaturg and director on theater projects. He has also worked as an artistic consultant with many institutions abroad, bringing fresh, innovative, and original perspectives.
What does a divination reading look like?
-
Formulating the question
The first step is to define the question as precisely as possible. The I Ching does not answer “Yes” or “No,” nor does one ask “What should I do?” Instead, it can shed light on the situation you are in, or — if you decide on a course of action — the situation you may enter as a result.
Example question: “How will leaving this job now affect the harmony between Heaven and Earth?” -
Selecting the hexagram
Using 50 yarrow stalks, Milan calculates which hexagram relates to your question. -
Interpreting the hexagram
Based on the text of the I Ching, Milan interprets the chosen hexagram. His years of study help him understand its message and present it in a way that is most comprehensible to the questioner. The symbolic text is explored together, with the aim that the questioner, through the symbols, arrives at their own insights and understanding. This is a consultation, with the I Ching serving as the intermediary. -
Consultation
If needed, further discussion with Milan is possible.
A reading does not require an in-person meeting, though it is ideal to discuss the wording of the question at least by phone or Skype.
Price: €80 for the full process — question formulation, reading, interpretation, and consultation.
