The Anatomy of Movement

Immersion in the complementary relationships within human body movement.

The workshop is an insight into Milan’s philosophy and philosophy of thinking about the human body and about the creative movement in the perception of the complementarity of the human body. It is aimed at strengthening of the skeletal system, at the work on the conscious structure of the body and at the correct use of body physi-dynamics. Students will also learn about locomotive and energy centers, exercises to strengthen the bones, joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles by activating the energy in the body. Throughout the workshop, the emphasis is not placed on the form, but on understanding the concept of work and individual principles. To know what means a conscious separation from the ´dancer’s critical and conciliatory mind’, which makes us more observer than the ‘performer’.

Anatomy of Movement in Contact

Workshop of Contact improvisation with Milan Kozánek
16th -17th of November 2022

The intensive weekend workshop explores holistic work with the body, the art of understanding the natural physiodynamics of the body, and the skill of using the skeletal structure for healthy support when dancing with a partner. We will become acquainted with movement and energy centers, as well as exercises to strengthen bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles by activating energy in the body.

During the workshop, we will learn skills such as lightening body weight, using spiral movement and rolling, receiving and giving weight, and supporting the body by using your own weight.

Through contact improvisation, we learn to perceive and understand ourselves better, as well as to perceive the outside world more clearly. This process is supported by work with intuition, teaching us how to perceive space and time.

The workshop is also open to people without prior dance experience.
